Meet Dr. Brendan Smith

Education and Experience
Dr. Brendan Smith is a board-certified orthodontist who brings a thoughtful, patient- centered approach and a strong clinical background to every smile he helps create. Known for his precision and warm demeanor, he’s excited to bring his skills to North Idaho and join a team that shares his values of integrity, kindness, and quality care. Originally from Pocatello, Idaho, Dr. Smith grew up all over the country as his dad completed his medical education and residency training. He vividly remembers one of the best days of his childhood when he turned 16, tested for his black belt in Tae Kwon Do, had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor and got his driver’s license! His hard work as a youngster set the foundation for his pursuit of higher education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in zoology from Brigham Young University, which prepared him for more studying and Jumanji. He went on to graduate cum laude with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He then completed a general practice residency at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where he treated medically complex patients and gained comprehensive experience across all areas of dentistry. His time in Hawaii confirmed his passion for orthodontics and inspired him to move back across the Pacific Ocean and the country to a very different island to pursue orthodontic specialty training at Columbia University in Manhattan, New York.
While at Columbia, Dr. Smith served as co-president of his class and developed expertise in early interceptive treatment, adolescent and adult orthodontics, and surgical cases. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics—a reflection of his commitment to clinical excellence.
Outside the office, Dr. Smith enjoys target shooting, motorcycle riding, movies, and PC games. He is a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and a rock music enthusiast. When it comes to food, his go-to favorites include Chipotle, good BBQ, and Cold Stone ice cream.
Having recently relocated from Texas, Dr. Smith is excited to embrace life in North Idaho with his two dogs and become part of the local community. He’s passionate about the life-changing impact of a confident smile and believes that orthodontics can empower people of all ages, helping them build self-esteem, express their personality, and ultimately, let their smile set them free.
